1% for the Planet member Amabile Designs was created with a mission. Co-owners (and husband and wife!) Katie and Adrian have poured their passion for the planet into their business, making sustainable bracelets, from the start. For as long as he can remember, Adrian has loved the water.
“Growing up, I spent a lot of time around the waters of the Carolinas. From surf fishing at Fort Fisher, fly fishing in Brevard, early morning bass fishing on Lake Wylie, wake boards and water skies on the intercoastal waterways, to surfing at Topsail Island, I found my love for the water. And the water brought me love; Katie and I met for the first time on the lake. Now, with three beautiful children of our own, we want to share our love for the water with them. Sadly, the more we share the water with them, the more trash we’ve noticed and removed”Adrian, co-owner of Amabile Designs
With their three children in tow, Adrian and Katie run their business with strict ethical and environmental standards, putting people and the planet at the forefront of their mission. Every piece created at Amabile Designs is made with ethically sourced and recycled materials that can be recycled again after use.
The thread used is made of ECONYL®, which is regenerated nylon made from nylon waste – like fishing nets from the oceans and aquaculture. All beads are handmade in Ghana using glass waste once destined for the landfill, and all metal components are made from 100% recycled silver.
These initiatives are not only creating low-impact products, they are also helping to build a better future: a future with clean waterways, ethical working standards and a closed-loop economy.
