To support and advance environmental stewardship, Klean Kanteen partners with Outdoor Afro, a nonprofit inspiring Black connections with nature and changing the face of conservation. The nonprofit has 80 volunteer leaders in 30 states leading nature expeditions and inspiring others in their communities to enjoy and advocate for the environment. Last year, Outdoor Afro brought together the first all-black U.S. expedition team to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
“There are misconceptions about Black people not having a global perspective and this journey allowed us to change the traditional narrative to reflect what it means to be a person of color and adventurous.”Chaya Harris, Outdoor Afro Northeast Regional Leader
Outdoor Afro has disrupted the false perception that Black people
do not have a relationship with nature, shifted the visual representation of who can connect with and lead in the outdoors, and worked to restore outdoor leadership back to the home. This partnership is empowering leaders and inspiring environmental activism in communities around the country.
